Love You Can See, Since 1923.

Our History

For 100 years, custom jewelry design has been the art and soul of our business. Family owned since 1923, Morrison’s Jewelers’ standards of excellence in quality, care and design are unsurpassed.  Much of our custom work is created in-house, as well as through our network of world-class partners. We also specialize in redesigning jewelry that has been passed down thru generations, maintaining great sentimental value while also reflecting your own personal style. Morrison’s will work with your gemstones or help you select the perfect stones from our network of partners, representing collectable gemstones or everyday baubles.

Additionally, we offer full service, on site jewelry repair, timepiece repair, bead stringing, appraisals and a beautiful selection of designer jewelry in our store in Orinda.

David & Christine Berryhill, Owners

David Berryhill, Matthew’s son, and his wife Christine are the modern face of Morrison’s today; with more than fourty-five years of combined experience, a wealth of industry contacts and a passion for iconic brands and jewelry design.  David and Christine’s passions reflect those of several of the owners that preceded them. When they aren’t working they like to play golf and ride their Harley Davidson. But Harley Jane, the store mascot is their true love.

Family-Owned, Since 1923.

Matthew Berryhill

Matthew Berryhill

By the 1960’s Walter’s two stepsons, Peter and Matthew Berryhill, made their appearance in the jewelry store. As partners, they ran the business successfully for the next forty years, and it was during their reign that Morrison’s moved it’s location from Berkeley to Orinda. Motorcycles and airplanes gave way to BMW’s, tennis rackets and golf clubs, but the great customer service continued unchanged.

Walter Morrison

Walter Morrison

Walter Morrison learned the business from his dad and took over the store upon his return from WWII. Under his leadership the store expanded both in size and in the quality of the merchandise offered for sale. Dubbed the “flying jeweler” in an industry article written about him, Walter enjoyed a lifelong love affair with flying and owned his own airplane.

William Morrison

William Morrison

William Morrison opened a Jewelry store in Berkeley in 1923. The proverbial “jack of all trades”, William Morrison used the skills he had picked up in goldsmithing, diamond setting and watchmaking as a way to make a living. A character all his life, he liked fast cars and bought a motorcycle in his eighties.
